A head-on collision on Hall Road killed a Freedom man and led to the arrest of a teenager from Salinas.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Salinas resident Giorgio Diaztraylor was driving on Hall Road when he came over the center lines into oncoming traffic. About 8:10 a.m. he crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by George T. Petroutsas, 42, of Freedom near Elkhorn Road.
Mr. Petroutsas was stuck in the vehicle after the wreck and died on the scene. A Santa Cruz man, 51, was in the vehicle with Mr. Petroutsas. He was airlifted to a trauma center with moderate injuries.
Mr. Diaztraylor was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
